First game design ever!

One of my good friends Henry (not to be confused with me, Hen) invited me to do the art for a game jam they were participating in and I thought I would share some screenshots of the process as a beginner!

Here are my first sketches for the layout and design. We didn't stray too far from the initial designs, what can I say, I kind of nailed it (I'm kidding, we just weren't too picky as it was a 9 day jam and we both attend university).

Here is an early Pedro design. It was suggested by my collaborator that the hat completely excludes their face which I liked. We also had a second hat design that we considered using for if we implemented multiplayer.

Pedro is named after Pedro Pascal because he is a very attractive man.

Luckily for me, three sprites is all that is needed to make a basic walk cycle, and I could let Henry do all the actual work of programming it in. Wow game development is easy!!

My favourite thing was the little details I could add in. Here is two little dog bowls, featuring the names of my dog Ruben, and Henry's dog Ripley. Both very good boys, now immortalised in a game about a stressed out grave keeper.

Lastly, an easter egg of sorts. I hid two tiny crewmates within the game (Henry did try and stop me). One pictured here in the moon on the main menu, plus one in the game itself. Try and find it if you play the game!

Anyway this was wholly unorganised but hopefully this provides insight into the creative process behind making game art for the first time, thanks for reading!

This is so good!!!!

One thing tho!
you misspelt "One of my good friends Henry" When it should be "Coolest most epic person in the world also bestie, Henry." But y'know just don't enter a spelling bee anytime soon.
